Visit the Teatro Verdi? You can!
Did you know that our theater houses five 32-pound cannon balls on the façade, a reminder of the last battle of the French in 1813? And that the French culture was present well before the three occupations of Trieste?
The first billboard in the French language dates back to 1776, but we know that as early as 1774 the Gabrielle de Vergy of De Belloy was represented and that the theater staged numerous French authors (Voltaire and Rabelais, Molière and Regnard, Diderot and Beaumarchais, Crébillon).
This is just one of the many curiosities that can be discovered during the guided tour, which our Foundation offers to tourists and citizens.
Visits are possible from Tuesday to Friday from 8.00am to 2.00pm and Saturday from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
The cost of the visit is 3 euros and for groups reservations are required by calling 800 898 868.
